Dartmouth traffic stop uncovers loaded gun, results in numerous charges

DARTMOUTH, N.S. — A Friday-night traffic stop in Dartmouth has led to a raft of firearms charges for a 39-year-old man.
Ivan Santell Thompson was stopped by Halifax Regional Police officers on Fundy Lane around 8 p.m. in relation to an ongoing investigation. Police seized a loaded firearm from inside his vehicle.
Thompson is scheduled to appear in provincial court on the following charges:
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition;
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm or ammunition with no license;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Unsafe storage of a firearm contrary to regulations;
- Storing a restricted weapon contrary to regulations;
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace;
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a court order;
- Carrying a concealed weapon and;
- Possession of a firearm in a vehicle.
