Deion Sanders won’t try to influence his son Shedeur Sanders’ NFL destination

Deion Sanders, the Colorado football coach, recently made headlines when he shared his thoughts on his son Shedeur Sanders’ upcoming NFL Draft. Shedeur, a talented quarterback, has been meeting with various NFL teams to discuss potential opportunities. Deion initially hinted that he would advise his son to avoid playing for certain teams, but he has since clarified his stance.

During a recent interview on “The Skip Bayless Show,” Deion expressed his support for Shedeur’s decision-making process. He stated, “Honestly, Shedeur has told me, he’s talked to me intently about all the visits he’s had with all the teams. So, I know where his heart is. I know where he wants to go. If it’s New York, it’s New York. If it’s Tennessee, if it’s Cleveland, if it’s still the Raiders, if it’s New Orleans, if it’s any of those teams that are seeking a quarterback, I’m happy with it. Because I know what he’s going to do to the organization.”

When asked if he would try to influence Shedeur’s draft placement, Deion emphasized that he believes in letting things unfold according to a higher plan. He said, “No, because that’s not God’s will right now. I want Shedeur to do what he’s consistently done — excel against all odds. I like the hating. I like the naysaying. I like the ignorance because it makes us feel better about what we do. It gives him another chip on his shoulder.”

Deion also drew parallels to former quarterback Eli Manning’s draft situation in 2004, suggesting that Shedeur and another standout player, Travis Hunter, might face similar challenges. Manning famously refused to play for the San Diego Chargers, who held the No. 1 pick, leading to a draft-day trade that sent him to the New York Giants.

As Shedeur prepares for the 2025 NFL Draft, where he is projected to be a first-round pick, Deion stands by his son’s decisions and aspirations. The draft is set to begin on Thursday, April 24, with football fans eagerly anticipating where Shedeur will land.

In conclusion, Deion Sanders’ unwavering support for his son Shedeur’s NFL Draft journey showcases a father’s pride and confidence in his son’s abilities. As the football world eagerly awaits the draft day, all eyes will be on Shedeur Sanders and the promising future that lies ahead for this talented quarterback.
