Homan takes victory lap after illegal immigrant crossings plummet during Trump admin: ‘He is delivering’

President Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, is celebrating the administration’s significant decrease in illegal immigrant encounters at the southern border in comparison to the current Biden administration. Homan proudly announced that Border Patrol has only encountered a total of 229 aliens across the entire southwest border, a stark contrast to the high of over 11,000 encounters per day under President Biden’s leadership. Homan, who has been in law enforcement since 1984, expressed astonishment at the unprecedented low numbers.

“President Trump promised a secure border, and he is delivering on that promise,” stated Homan. The Trump administration has been dedicated to implementing a historic mass deportation campaign and enhancing border security measures. On his first day in office, Trump signed orders to resume border wall construction, restrict asylum claims, declare a national emergency, and terminate parole programs initiated during the Biden era.

Under the Trump administration, expedited removal has been expanded, restrictions on ICE agents in “sensitive places” have been lifted, and nationwide raids have been conducted, including legal actions against “sanctuary” jurisdictions. Recent data from the Department of Homeland Security, as reported by Fox News Digital, shows a significant increase in illegal immigrant arrests. From January 20 to February 8, there were 11,791 interior ICE arrests, a 137% rise from the same period in 2024.

Arrests of criminal aliens with prior convictions have nearly doubled, rising from 4,526 in 2024 to 8,993 in 2025. Fugitive alien arrests have surged from 2,164 to 5,538, marking a 156% increase. Additionally, arrests of criminal aliens in local jails have increased by 59%. The daily average number of known “gotaways” – illegal migrants who enter the U.S. without apprehension – at the southern border has dropped significantly to just 132 per day, a 93% reduction from the highest numbers recorded during the Biden administration.

During an interview on “America’s Newsroom,” Homan was asked about the potential depletion of criminal illegal immigrant targets. He emphasized that there are still nearly 600,000 illegal aliens in the U.S. with criminal convictions, and his goal is to eliminate each one of them.

In conclusion, the Trump administration’s efforts to secure the border and enforce immigration laws have resulted in a substantial decrease in illegal immigrant encounters and a notable increase in arrests of criminal aliens. The administration’s commitment to border security and law enforcement continues to be a top priority, as evidenced by the significant progress made in reducing illegal border crossings and apprehending criminal offenders.
