Enraged parents scream at school board for allowing trans athlete in girls’ sports: ‘Teach them self control!’

A heated school board meeting in Riverside, California, turned into a chaotic scene as concerned parents and transgender activists clashed over the inclusion of a transgender athlete on the cross-country team. The meeting, held by the Riverside Unified School District (RUSD), was intended to address the controversy surrounding students wearing shirts that read “Save Girls’ Sports” in protest against the trans athlete’s participation.

Prior to the meeting, tensions were already high as competing protests took place outside the RUSD District Office between pro-transgender activists and supporters of “Save Girls’ Sports.” Once the meeting began, emotions ran high as parents took to the podium to express their concerns.

One mother, identified only as Sandy R., expressed her fear of being doxxed for her anti-trans views and accused the board of defying Title IX in favor of California state law. Another parent pointed out the genetic differences between biological males and females, citing the school’s own biology textbook as evidence.

The atmosphere became more intense as parents criticized the school district for labeling them as “agitators” and compared the trans inclusion to allowing young males to transition to female sports for a competitive advantage. The parents demanded self-control be taught to the students and expressed their fears of girls having to share locker rooms with biological males.

As the meeting progressed, more parents took to the podium to share their concerns, with some calling for the resignation of Superintendent Renee Hill. The emotional pleas of a female student-athlete highlighted the unfair advantage that biological males have in women’s sports.

On the other side, pro-transgender activists voiced their support for the trans athlete and thanked the board for enabling their participation. One activist even made the false claim that the XY chromosome is disappearing from the human gene pool. The pro-trans speeches were met with cheers and the waving of LGBTQ pride flags.

California state law has protected transgender athletes in women’s sports since 2014, allowing students to participate according to their gender identity. RUSD reiterated its obligation to comply with state law and directed those opposed to the decision to address lawmakers.

The contentious meeting highlighted the ongoing debate over transgender inclusion in sports and the challenges faced by school districts in navigating these complex issues. As tensions continue to rise, it remains to be seen how schools will address the concerns of both sides while ensuring a fair and inclusive environment for all students.
