FBI leadership tells agents not to participate in Pride Month activities officially

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently sent out an email to agents and directors, instructing them not to participate in Pride Month activities in their professional capacity. This directive, a departure from the tone set by the Biden administration, was communicated by FBI Assistant Director for Public Affairs Ben Williamson in an email obtained by Fox News Digital.

According to the email, FBI employees are free to engage in Pride Month activities in their personal capacity or on their own time. However, they are not allowed to take any official actions, organize events, or issue messaging related to Pride Month using FBI resources or their Bureau affiliation. The email emphasized that the FBI remains committed to serving and protecting all Americans and welcoming colleagues from diverse backgrounds, but the focus should be solely on the core mission of the bureau.

This shift in policy marks a departure from the previous administration, which actively supported Pride Month through various initiatives and events. The Biden administration faced criticism from conservatives for its vocal support of Pride Month, including hosting a “Pride Month 2023” event at the White House.

The email from the FBI comes amidst a broader shift away from diversity, equity, and inclusion messaging in the federal government under the Trump administration. FBI Director Kash Patel, in his first statement after taking office, emphasized the importance of letting “good cops be cops” and rebuilding trust in the FBI.

It is important to note that the FBI did not respond to requests for comment on this matter. As the bureau continues to navigate these changes in policy, it remains to be seen how this shift will impact its relationship with the LGBTQ community and its approach to diversity and inclusion moving forward.
