Five people arrested in weapons-related search in Halifax

Five individuals were taken into custody in the early hours of Wednesday morning following a police raid on a residence in central Halifax as part of an ongoing investigation into weapons.
Although no weapons were uncovered at the Allan Street location, law enforcement is preparing to press charges
Five individuals were apprehended early Wednesday morning during a search by police at a residence on Allan Street in central Halifax as part of an ongoing weapons probe.
The search took place in the 6000 block of Allan Street just before 5 a.m. AT, according to a news release from Halifax Regional Police.
Despite no weapons being found during the search, Const. John MacLeod, a police spokesperson, mentioned that charges are expected. He also stated that four out of the five individuals were released, with one remaining in custody for a separate investigation.
Residents in the vicinity reported hearing sirens and a loud noise, but MacLeod clarified that no firearms were discharged. He did mention that the police used sensory irritants during the operation.
Additionally, police confiscated items from the residence as part of their investigation.
The investigation is still ongoing, and charges are likely to be filed, as per the news release.
