Forward MacEwen joins the Ottawa senators

The Ottawa senators have agreed on a three-year, $2.325 million contract with forward Zack MacEwen.

The deal has an average annual value of $775,000.

MacEwen, 26, split time between the Philadelphia Flyers and Los Angeles Kings last season after being acquired by the Kings before the trade deadline.

The six-foot, 205-pound center had nine points (four goals, five assists) in 46 games for the Flyers and only one assist in 10 games for the Kings.

MacEwen spent his first three seasons in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks from 2018-2021 after being drafted again.

The Charlottetown native has 28 points (13 goals, 15 assists) in 186 career games.

“Zack is a player of strong character who brings more physicality to our lineup,” said Pierre Dorion, general manager of Senators. “He’s a hard, competitive player who is a tenacious pre-checker and shows a routine willingness to go to the hard areas.”
