Fox News Poll: Approval of Zelenskyy down 20 points since start of war in Ukraine

Amidst the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, a recent Fox News Poll reveals a shift in Americans’ approval of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The survey, conducted prior to President Donald Trump’s recent discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelenskyy, shows a decrease in approval ratings for Zelenskyy’s handling of the situation.

According to the poll, 56% of U.S. voters approve of Zelenskyy’s response to the Russian invasion. This marks an 18-point drop from February 2023 and a 20-point decrease since the conflict began in March 2022. Notably, there has been a significant decline in approval among Republicans, with a 42-point decrease from 2022.

Despite the dwindling approval ratings, a majority of Americans still support providing financial aid to Ukraine. Fifty-six percent of voters favor continuing financial assistance to the country, although this number has decreased by 7 points since January 2023.

Republican pollster Daron Shaw attributes the decline in support for aid to Ukraine to the shifting political climate, as new leaders advocate for different approaches to the conflict. The survey also revealed a decrease in support for financial aid to Israel, with 50% of voters approving of such assistance.

When it comes to the conflict between Israel and Palestine, opinions are divided. While 55% of voters side with Israel, support for Palestine has nearly doubled since 2023. Democrats show a reversal in support, with a majority backing Palestine over Israel.

In terms of foreign aid spending, voters are split on whether the U.S. should increase, decrease, or keep humanitarian aid at the same level as the previous year. President Trump’s handling of foreign affairs receives mixed reviews, with net negative ratings on various issues including Ukraine and Russia.

Overall, Trump’s job approval rating stands at 49%, matching a record high. The survey, conducted in March 2025, included interviews with 994 registered voters and has a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.

In conclusion, the Fox News Poll highlights the evolving opinions of Americans on foreign policy issues, particularly regarding Ukraine, Israel, and Palestine. As the conflict continues, public sentiment may continue to shift, shaping future decisions on financial aid and diplomatic relations.
