Police charge young person with 18 counts related to graffiti in downtown New Glasgow

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — New Glasgow Regional Police (NGRP) have charged a youth after graffiti was found throughout the downtown area of New Glasgow.

On Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, officers responding to a call discovered that multiple buildings and structures had been spray painted with black paint.

An investigation led to the identification of one young person from Pictou County.

A Search Warrant was conducted by the New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit and Street Crime Enforcement Unit on Jan. 11 at a residence in Pictou County, where paint and paint supplies were seized.

A young person has been charged with 17 counts of mischief under $5000 and one charge of mischief over $5000 and was later released on judicial recognizance. They will appear in Provincial Court in Pictou on January 15, 2024.
