Girl, 13, dies after highway collision in Quebec that seriously injured four others

The Quebec Provincial Police say a 13-years old girl died of her injuries following a collision late Sunday morning on a major highway southwest of Montreal.

The girl was one of five people in an SUV that collided with a truck on Highway 20.

The other two children and two adults who were in the vehicle with her were in critical condition Sunday evening.

The collision occurred shortly before 11 a.m. in St-Zotique, Que., about four miles from the Ontario border.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Catherine Bernard says initial analysis suggests the truck driver was unable to stop in time because traffic slowed and hit the SUV.

The highway was closed to westbound traffic for hours on Sunday as police continued their investigation.
