Gymnast Simone Biles vows to ‘never’ return to Pilates class, cites difficulty with first experience

Simone Biles, the renowned gymnast and seven-time Olympic gold medalist, recently shared her struggles with getting back into her workout routine after a well-deserved break following her incredible performance at the Paris Olympics earlier this year.

Biles, known for her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport, took to social media to reveal that she had returned to training, with Pilates being a part of her post-Olympics workout regimen. However, her experience with Pilates seemed to be a challenging one, as she humorously mentioned in an Instagram story that she would not be attending another Pilates class anytime soon.

Joseph Pilates, the creator of the exercise method, designed Pilates to improve flexibility and build muscle strength using machines that incorporate bands and movable benches. When performed correctly, Pilates can also help alleviate lower back and leg muscle issues.

Despite her initial struggles with Pilates, Biles has not ruled out the possibility of competing in future Olympics. At 27 years old, she jokingly mentioned that she is “getting really old,” but she remains open to the idea of participating in the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, which will mark the return of the Olympics to the U.S. for the first time since 1996.

In addition to her remarkable achievements at the Paris Olympics, where she clinched three gold medals and a silver in the floor exercise, Biles continues to inspire fans and aspiring gymnasts with her unparalleled talent and dedication to the sport.
