Halifax-area shooting leaves man, 18, with life-threatening injuries

The RCMP say an 18-year-old man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a shooting Thursday in the Halifax-area community of North Preston.

The RCMP say an 18-year-old man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a shooting Thursday in the Halifax-area community of North Preston.

Police say they were called to Downey Road around 4:23 p.m. Thursday after reports of a shooting.

Const. Dominic Laflamme said officers immediately found an 18-year-old man outside on the ground with a gunshot wound.

The officers provided first aid until paramedics arrived.

The Mounties say investigators found numerous shell casings at the scene and damage believed to be bullet holes, but no other injuries have been reported.

Investigators say they do not believe the incident was random.
