Halifax boardwalk assault victim dies in hospital

HALIFAX, N.S. — A 26-year-old man has died in hospital following an assault on the Halifax waterfront Sunday night.

A Halifax Regional Police news release Monday night said the victim, who was assaulted at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital.

Police found the unconscious man on the boardwalk in the 1500 block of Lower Water Street.

No further details were released about the identity of the victim.
