Halifax Mountie gets head butted while making arrest in Sackville

Handcuffs and a Taser weren’t enough to prevent a Lower Sackville man from headbutting a police officer in the face.

Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of an assault at a home on Coles Road late Friday night, where they were told a man had assaulted a woman known to him, threatened her with a weapon and damaged property in the home.

RCMP say when their officers arrived, the man came out of the home and began threatening them.

Mounties used a conducted energy weapon (commonly known as a Taser) and got the man in cuffs after a brief struggle. While they were taking the man to a police car, he headbutted one of the officers in the face, causing minor injuries.

Ray Saxon Fancy, 28, of Lower Sackville faces three counts of uttering threats, committing an assault by choking, assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Fancy will stay in custody until he appears in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Tuesday morning.
