Halifax police investigating assault and property damage at government building

HALIFAX, N.S. — Police in Halifax are investigating after two people were assaulted at a government building and property was damaged on Thursday.

Halifax Regional Police responded to the assault call at a government building in the 300 block of Herring Cove Road at about 12:10 p.m. after a man walked into the office, assaulted two people known to him and caused damage to the office before running away.

When officers were on scene, police received word of a second mischief report after a man damaged property at the Captain William Spry Community Centre at 16 Sussex St. before running from the area.

Police said the suspect has been identified, and officers are working to locate and arrest him.
