US strikes Iran nuclear sites, GOP lawmakers call it ‘right call’

President Donald Trump’s leadership in authorizing the attack on three Iranian nuclear sites has garnered praise from both Republicans and at least one prominent Democrat. Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina took to Twitter to express his support, stating, “Good. This was the right call. The regime deserves it. Well done, President @realDonaldTrump.” Democratic Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania also commended Trump, emphasizing the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities.

Republican Representative Brandon Gill from Texas echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the concept of “peace through strength” and the necessity of preventing existential enemies from obtaining catastrophic weapons. Former Florida Representative Matt Gaetz went as far as calling Trump a “peacemaker” for his handling of the situation.

House Armed Services Committee Chairman, Republican Representative Mike Rogers from Alabama, supported Trump’s decision to strike Iran’s nuclear sites, citing Iran’s continued pursuit of nuclear weapons as justification for the military action. Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas also expressed his approval, highlighting Iran’s history of terror against the United States and the importance of preventing them from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Additionally, Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming and House Speaker Mike Johnson from Louisiana lauded Trump’s decision, emphasizing the threat that a nuclear-armed Iran poses to the safety of the United States and the world. Johnson commended Trump for enforcing his stance against a nuclear-armed Iran with strength, precision, and clarity.

However, not all lawmakers were in agreement with the military action. Republican Representative Thomas Massie from Kentucky, who authored a war powers resolution to prevent U.S. involvement in Iran, deemed the attacks as unconstitutional. Democratic Representative Ro Khanna from California also criticized Trump for striking Iran without congressional authorization, calling for immediate action to prevent America from being dragged into another endless Middle East war.
