Hamas rockets hit Israeli cities, leading to ‘forceful response’ from IDF
Israel retaliated on Sunday after Hamas terrorists launched a series of rockets towards towns in the Southern District of Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by targeting the rocket launchers in the Gaza Strip, where the projectiles originated from earlier in the day.
The rockets were fired from central Gaza towards Ashdod and Ashkelon in the evening, causing damage and debris in several areas. Out of the 10 rockets launched, Israeli forces were able to intercept half of them successfully.
After the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was briefed and authorized a forceful response, approving intensified IDF operations against Hamas in Gaza. Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz emphasized the necessity of holding Hamas accountable for any harm caused to Israeli civilians.
The IDF shared footage of a neighborhood hit by a rocket, showcasing emergency vehicles responding to the scene at night. This incident was just one example of Hamas’ continued attacks on Israeli civilians while using Gazan civilians as shields.
The latest rocket strikes occurred amidst ongoing IDF operations targeting terrorist cells across the region. Recently, Israel conducted airstrikes on Syrian military airfields as a warning to Turkey not to interfere with Israeli aerial operations in Syrian airspace.
In a significant development, the IDF confirmed the elimination of the terrorist leader responsible for the deaths of Shiri, Kfir, and Ariel Bibas. Mohammad Awad, who played a key role in recruiting and planning attacks against Israelis, was taken out by Israeli forces.
