High school football coach arrested for alleged sex acts with student
A high school football coach in Alabama, Robert Carter, has found himself in hot water after being arrested for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student. The coach of Clarke County High School was apprehended in Niceville, Florida, following a traffic stop. It is reported that he fled Alabama during an ongoing investigation.
Carter, aged 55, is facing a total of 11 charges and is currently being held at the Okaloosa County jail on a $122,000 bond. The charges against him include four counts of a school employee engaging in a sex act with a student, four counts of distributing or soliciting obscene material from a student, and three counts of soliciting a sex act with a student.
Before his arrest, Clarke County School placed Carter on administrative leave. In response to the situation, Clarke County Schools Superintendent Ashlie Flowers emphasized the importance of professionalism and integrity among faculty and staff. She stated, “As the leader of Clarke County Schools, I expect professionalism and integrity from my faculty and staff. I and the school system take reports of misconduct by employees seriously and work closely with the school administration or law enforcement to ensure appropriate action is taken. The safety and well-being of our students is always a top priority.”
Carter had assumed the role of the school’s coach in 2023, with a record of 15-10 in his two seasons. He had previously served as the head coach at Beauregard High School, where he secured a state title in 2016, and also coached at Sylacauga in 2021 and 2022.
The incident has raised concerns within the community, highlighting the importance of maintaining boundaries and upholding ethical standards in educational settings.
