ICE scoops up illegal immigrants with murder, robbery convictions in weekend crackdown

Over the weekend, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) carried out a series of arrests targeting convicted criminal illegal immigrants across the country. More than 700 individuals were apprehended, with over 500 having prior convictions or charges, according to a senior Trump administration official.
One of the individuals arrested was Denicela Julia Mejia Thomas, a Honduran national in San Antonio, Texas, with a conviction of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. In Phoenix, Arizona, agents arrested Julio Cesar Garcia-Soto, a Mexican national with a murder conviction and a 17-year prison sentence. ICE Seattle apprehended Daniel De Jesus Lopez, a Mexican citizen convicted of robbery and delivery of methamphetamine, resulting in a 90-month prison sentence.
In Detroit, Charles Henry Pusey Mcnish, a Colombian national with a conviction for domestic violence and possession of cocaine, was taken into custody. Rutillo Alvarado Carranza, a Honduran national convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to 10 years in prison, was arrested in Houston.
In Los Angeles, ICE conducted a large-scale operation targeting individuals committing fraud through unauthorized cash withdrawals from victims’ EBT cards. Nine nationals from Romania and France were apprehended, including three with extensive criminal histories and one with a murder arrest in Romania.
These arrests are part of a broader effort by ICE to deport individuals deemed as public safety threats. Since the Trump administration took office, thousands of arrests have been made nationwide. The administration has lifted several Biden-era restrictions on ICE agents, allowing them to enter sensitive areas like churches or schools.
Additionally, the administration has ended Temporary Protected Status for over 300,000 migrants, making it easier for ICE to carry out deportations. President Trump recently announced that Venezuela has agreed to take back its illegal immigrants, further aiding the deportation efforts.
