India launches strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan

India has launched a military operation in neighboring Pakistan, targeting terrorist infrastructure in two of its occupied territories. The operation, named “Operation Sindoor,” aimed to eliminate terrorist attacks against India that have been planned and directed from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The Press Information Bureau of India confirmed the attack, stating that it was focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature.
According to Pakistani security officials, the missile strikes conducted by the Indian armed forces resulted in the death of at least one child and injured two other individuals. The locations targeted included Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Punjab province. One of the strikes hit a mosque in Bahawalpur, causing casualties among civilians. Survivors reported that the attackers accused some of the victims of supporting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In response to the escalating tensions, President Donald Trump expressed his hope for a peaceful resolution between the two nations. He acknowledged the long history of conflict between India and Pakistan over the disputed territory of Kashmir and emphasized the need for a swift resolution to the current crisis.
The recent military action comes after an April 22 attack in the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people. India has accused Pakistan of supporting the militant attack, a claim that Islamabad has denied. The region of Kashmir has been a source of tension between the two countries since gaining independence from Britain in 1947.
Pakistan’s army spokesman, Lt. Gen. Ahmad Sharif, stated that the missile strikes were launched from Indian territory and that no Indian aircraft had entered Pakistani airspace. He condemned the attack as a cowardly act targeting innocent civilians.
As tensions continue to rise between the nuclear-armed neighbors, the international community has called for restraint and peaceful dialogue to resolve the conflict. The situation remains volatile, and both India and Pakistan must work towards de-escalation and finding a peaceful solution to their longstanding dispute over Kashmir.
