Jay-Z pours champagne to fans at Beyoncé’s concert in Toronto

A self-described “ultra Beyoncé fan” said rap icon Jay-Z gifted her a bottle of champagne worth more than $400 at a concert in Toronto this weekend.

Alisha Digba danced like Beyoncé on the floor of the Rogers Center kicked her North American leg Renaissance world tour on Saturday night when she saw Jay-Z coming into view.

Digba pushed through the fans on the floor to get closer to the hip-hop legend, who was standing behind a barricade watching his wife perform, and began dancing her own choreography to Queen B’s lyrics.

“I swear Jay-Z was watching,” Digba said in a hoarse voice Monday, still tense from screaming lyrics at the concert two days earlier.

“He was in the barricade area, he was about to leave… so I thought ‘hey, can I take a picture?’ and instead he goes downstairs, grabs a bottle of champagne and goes to me, ‘well done,'” she said.

Jay-Z then gave Digba a bottle Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Brut Gold Champagnea product from the company he owns that is worth $406 at Ontario liquor stores.

Digba said she’s been a Beyoncé fan for as long as she can remember. “I was extremely bullied for being a black woman in grade school,” she said. In college, she was bullied again for being the only black person in her residence at Wilfrid Laurier University, Digba recalls.

But over the years, Beyoncé has been a source of hope and empowerment for her.

“She really, really saved my life,” Digba said with tears in her eyes.

When Beyoncé announced her summer tour dates, which included two shows in Toronto, the local St. Catharines, Ont., told her to buy a ticket.

“I decided to take a second job to pay for the ticket and got a floor seat ticket for $1,473,” Digba said.

With a prized bottle of champagne as proof of her hard work, Digba said she has no plans to sell it and wants to put it in a protective case instead.

“If someone wants to take something from this, just work hard for what you want,” Digba said. “Everything is possible.”
