London police ID 18-year-old from Brampton as suspect in Victoria Hospital shooting

An 18-year-old man from Brampton, Doneil Josiah Levy-Porter, has recently been charged in a home invasion and a bank robbery in the GTA. London police have now identified him as a suspect in a shooting that took place outside southwestern Ontario’s largest emergency department in December. Levy-Porter is currently in police custody in another jurisdiction on unrelated charges, according to London police.

The shooting occurred outside London Health Science Centre’s (LHSC) Victoria Hospital at around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 14. A truck pulled into the emergency room bay, crashing into a cement pillar, followed by another vehicle from which multiple shots were fired, causing chaos and panic among bystanders and hospital staff. The incident prompted a Code Silver to be called, indicating the presence of a weapon or active shooter on the premises.

In response to the shooting, LHSC’s interim head, David Musyj, pledged to enhance security measures by installing metal detectors outside the emergency department. Levy-Porter faces several charges in connection to the shooting, including attempted murder using a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, dangerous operation of a conveyance, discharging a restricted firearm or prohibited firearm recklessly, failure to comply with release orders, and failure to comply with undertaking.

Although Levy-Porter is currently detained in another jurisdiction, the specifics of his location have not been disclosed by London police. He was apprehended by York Regional Police on Jan. 10 following an investigation into an armed home invasion in Vaughan. Additionally, Levy-Porter was implicated in a bank robbery in Markham on Dec. 23, 2024, as confirmed by York police. The media release issued by York Police on Levy-Porter’s arrest highlighted that he was also subject to three release orders for previous unrelated charges.
