Reality show featuring immigrants vying for citizenship being weighed by Noem’s DHS

Are you a fan of reality TV shows and interested in immigration? Well, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) might have just the show for you! DHS is considering teaming up with the producer of ‘Duck Dynasty’ to create a reality show featuring immigrants competing for U.S. citizenship.

The show, proposed by A&E producer Rob Worsoff, would see immigrants from all walks of life participating in various challenges across the country in order to fast-track their citizenship process. Competitions could include activities like clam digging in Maine or rafting down the Arkansas River in Colorado. The show would be called ‘The American,’ after the iconic Amtrak train that would transport the contestants around the country.

As the immigrants travel to different states, they would learn about the history, quirks, and activities of each region. The show aims to showcase the unique backgrounds and stories of the contestants as they compete for the chance to become American citizens.

DHS seems open to the idea, with Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin expressing interest in the proposal. While Secretary Kristi Noem has not been briefed on the idea yet, the department is willing to review innovative pitches that promote patriotism and civic duty.

The winner of the show would be declared “our newest fellow American,” with all contestants eligible for eventual citizenship. Prizes for the show would include “iconically American” rewards such as 1 million American Airlines points, a $10,000 Starbucks Gift Card, or a lifetime supply of 76 gasoline.

Worsoff, the Canadian producer behind the pitch, emphasizes that the show is meant to be positive, fun, and inclusive. He has a track record of producing successful reality shows like ‘The Biggest Loser’ and ‘Duck Dynasty,’ and believes that ‘The American’ could spark a national conversation about what it means to be American.

While the idea for the show was initially pitched during the Obama administration, it never gained traction. However, with the current administration’s focus on immigration, there may be a new opportunity to bring ‘The American’ to life.

Overall, ‘The American’ promises to be a heartwarming and insightful look at the immigration process and what it means to become a citizen of the United States. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new reality show concept!
