Luigi Mangione’s mom made shocking admission to police

Luigi Mangione’s mother had a chilling conversation with the police just one day before her son was apprehended in Pennsylvania. She expressed her concern that the brutal murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson could be something her son was capable of. This revelation came after Mangione’s mother reported him missing to the San Francisco Police, stating that she had not been in contact with him since July.

California investigators recognized Mangione from images released by the New York Police Department (NYPD) in connection with Thompson’s murder. NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny mentioned that they reached out to Mangione’s mother to inquire if the suspect in question could be her son. Although she did not confirm his identity from the photograph, she did admit that the crime seemed like something he could potentially commit.

On December 7, a late-night phone call occurred between Mangione’s mother and investigators, leading to his capture on December 9 at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Currently held in Pennsylvania, efforts are underway to extradite Mangione to New York.

Following an indictment by a New York grand jury, Mangione now faces charges of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, multiple weapon possession charges, and possession of a forged instrument. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg described the shooting as a brazen and premeditated act.

Scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, sources indicate that Mangione does not intend to contest extradition, potentially returning to New York the same day. The 26-year-old is accused of fatally shooting Brian Thompson in an ambush outside a Manhattan hotel on December 4. Surveillance footage captured the execution-style attack.
