Macdonald Bridge will be closed again this weekend
The Angus L. Macdonald Bridge in Nova Scotia is set to undergo another closure this weekend as part of a two-year, $70-million project aimed at extending the bridge’s lifespan. The closure is scheduled to begin on Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. and will last until Monday, May 5, at 5:30 a.m. During this time, the bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic, but will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists, who will be required to share the designated walkway.
Halifax Harbour Bridges, the organization overseeing the project, has advised all users to exercise caution and follow any directions provided by traffic control personnel. Cyclists are specifically reminded to dismount and walk their bicycles in the area of the pedestrian tunnel near the Dartmouth tower. Additionally, drivers are warned to expect traffic delays and are encouraged to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and allow for extra travel time to reach their destinations.
This weekend’s closure marks the second of potentially four planned closures for the Macdonald Bridge this year as part of Project LifeSpan. The project aims to ensure the long-term structural integrity and safety of the bridge for years to come.
