MacKay Bridge closing for weekend maintenance

The A. Murray MacKay Bridge in Nova Scotia will undergo a temporary closure starting at 8 p.m. on Friday and lasting until 5:30 a.m. on Monday. This closure is necessary for crews to conduct critical maintenance work on the bridge.

During this time, all traffic will be prohibited from crossing the A. Murray MacKay Bridge. However, the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge will remain open throughout the weekend. It is important to note that vehicles weighing more than 3,200 kilograms, with the exception of passenger buses, will not be allowed to cross the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge.

As a result of this closure, travel delays are expected. Commuters are advised to plan ahead and consider the following tips provided by Halifax Harbour Bridges:

– Allow extra travel time
– Avoid peak travel hours
– Exercise caution and patience with other drivers
– Use alternate routes
– Consider taking public transit if possible

It is crucial for commuters to be aware of these changes and plan their routes accordingly to minimize any inconvenience caused by the bridge closure. Stay informed and stay safe on the roads during this maintenance period.
