MacKay Bridge will be closed for lane reconfiguration this weekend

The A. Murray MacKay Bridge in Halifax will undergo a temporary closure this weekend, starting on Friday, May 23 at 8 p.m. and reopening on Monday, May 26 at 5:30 a.m. The closure is necessary for lane reconfiguration, cable inspections, and a lighting project at the Victoria Road interchange.
According to Halifax Harbour Bridges, motorists can expect a new alignment through the former toll plaza area when the bridge reopens on Monday. The speed limit in the construction zone will be reduced to 50 km/h to ensure safety for all commuters. While the closure includes all ramps at the Victoria Road interchange, Victoria Road to Windmill Road will remain open for traffic.
During this period, the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge will remain open for commuters who need to cross the harbour. Halifax Harbour Bridges advised drivers to plan their routes accordingly and to follow any detour signs or traffic instructions in place.
The closure of the MacKay Bridge is essential for ongoing maintenance and improvement projects to ensure the safety and efficiency of the bridge for all users. We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the public during this temporary inconvenience.
For any further updates or information regarding the closure, please visit the Halifax Harbour Bridges website or contact their customer service line. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to enhance the infrastructure of our city.
