Israeli official reveals how ‘to truly defeat Hezbollah’

An Israeli official emphasized the importance of returning to normal civilian life in northern Israel along the border with Lebanon as a key strategy to defeat Hezbollah. Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), highlighted the significance of having residents living in the area, promoting tourism, reopening businesses, and fostering agricultural activities to achieve long-term victory against the terrorist organization.

During a recent visit to southern Lebanon, Halevi conducted a situational assessment with other senior officers, including Commanding Officer of the Northern Command, Major General Ori Gordin, and Commanding Officer of the 146th Division, Brigadier General Yiftach Norkin. The discussions revolved around the ongoing efforts to dismantle terror tunnels and Hezbollah’s command center in southern Lebanon.

The cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, which has been in place for a month, has allowed Israeli forces to conduct operations in southern Lebanon to counter the smuggling of weapons across the Lebanese-Syrian border crossings. The IDF has continued strikes in southern Lebanon and recently expanded operations to the eastern Bekaa region.
