Major K Street players previously skeptical of Trump now pledging to work together with him

President Donald Trump’s return to the White House has caused a shift in tone on K Street, the hub of lobbyist influence in Washington, D.C., as several prominent lobbyist voices are now pledging to work with the new president after previously criticizing him.
Jay Timmons, the president and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), posted on social media that “Manufacturers are ready to work with @realDonaldTrump to roll back the federal regulatory onslaught, unleash American energy and build on the success of the pro-growth Trump Tax Cuts.” This praise comes after years of intense criticism of Trump, including after the January 6 riot, when Timmons accused Trump of inciting violence.
Timmons had also previously called on then-Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. However, following Trump’s victory in the November election, Timmons congratulated him and expressed his willingness to work together.
Similarly, Stephen Ubl, the president and CEO of PhRMA, had criticized Trump’s agenda items in the past, such as the “Buy American” executive order. However, since Trump’s victory, Ubl has expressed his commitment to working with the administration to improve the healthcare system for patients.
Neil Bradley, the vice president of the Chamber of Commerce, also had strong words for Trump after January 6, stating that Trump’s actions have no place in a free and democratic society. However, following Trump’s victory, Bradley praised the former president for his efforts to unleash the American economy.
The Business Roundtable (BRT) also extended its congratulations to President Trump after his election, despite previous criticisms from some of its members. The organization highlighted its close work with both Trump administrations on important policy initiatives, such as tax reform and the USMCA.
Overall, the change in tune among these prominent lobbyists on K Street underscores the willingness to work with President Trump and his administration to advance economic policies that benefit all Americans. The shift in attitude highlights the importance of cooperation and collaboration in achieving common goals for the country.
