Man, 43, charged in Hatchet Lake bat assault

HATCHET LAKE, N.S. — A 43-year-old man is facing an assault charge after another man was beaten with a bat at a Hatchet Lake home Nov. 2, police say.

Shortly after 9 a.m., Halifax District RCMP were called to a home on Westridge Road where Mounties allege the accused, armed with a bat, had assaulted a 51-year-old man after “a verbal altercation.” The two knew each other.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

His alleged assailant was arrested at the home and was released to face a charge of assault causing bodily harm in Halifax provincial court Jan. 4, 2024.
