Man accused of aggravated assault after woman was attacked at Shubenacadie campsite

East Hants District RCMP has charged 26-year-old Lionel Wade Thompson of Dartmouth with aggravated assault in connection with an altercation at a campsite in Shubenaca early Saturday morning.

Thompson remains in custody and will appear before the Nova Scotia Provincial Court in Shubenacadie at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

A 23-year-old woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

RCMP said they were called to the campground on Highway 215 for a disturbance at about 2:15 a.m., and when they arrived they found the 23-year-old victim. The Dartmouth woman was rushed to hospital.

The victim and her attacker were in a motor home with two other adults when she was attacked after an argument.

The investigation continues.
