Man dead after driving lawn tractor into path of car in Debert
A 64-year-old man is dead after driving his lawn tractor across a road into the path of an oncoming vehicle in Colchester County on Sunday.
RCMP, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene on Masstown Road near Plains Road in Debert just after 5 p.m. Sunday.
Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay said the man, who was from Debert, died at the scene. The 60-year-old woman driving the Chevy Cruz that collided with the tractor was not injured.
Tremblay said the road was closed for several hours while a collision reconstructionist worked at the scene.
He said there is a blind curve or crest in the road in that area, but the cause of the crash remains under investigation by RCMP and the provincial medical examiner’s office.
No charges are pending, Tremblay said.
