Man killed when ATV crosses into path of car in Lunenburg County

SIMMS SETTLEMENT, N.S. — One person died and another was seriously injured when an ATV drove in front of a vehicle in Lunenburg County Friday night.
RCMP said in a release that the ATV crossed the road into the path of the westbound sedan on Highway 3 in Simms Settlement at about 8 p.m.
Police said the driver of the car swerved to try to avoid the collision, but could not.
The ATV ended up in the ditch. Its driver, a 44-year-old Bangs Falls man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 54-year-old Greenfield woman, suffered injuries described as serious but not life-threatening. She was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The man driving the car was not injured.
The highway was closed for several hours while collision reconstructionist worked at the scene
The investigation is continuing.
