Hypersonic jet promises NYC to London in under an hour

Venus Aerospace, a Texas-based company, is on the brink of revolutionizing long-distance travel with their groundbreaking hypersonic jet, the Stargazer. This innovative aircraft has the potential to fly from New York City to London in just under an hour, a journey that currently takes around seven hours. The Stargazer is powered by the Venus Detonation Ramjet 2,000lb Thrust Engine (VDR2), a propulsion system that combines the rotating detonation rocket engine (RDRE) with a ramjet. This cutting-edge engine allows the aircraft to operate from takeoff through hypersonic speeds without the need for complex mechanical systems.

The VDR2 is projected to reach speeds of up to Mach 6, or 3,600 miles per hour, and fly at an altitude of 110,000 feet, providing passengers with a view of the curvature of the Earth.
