Medrick Burnett Jr. not dead despite Alabama A&M announcement: school

Alabama A&M Linebacker Medrick Burnett Jr. Hospitalized with Head Injury

Alabama A&M linebacker Medrick Burnett Jr. is currently hospitalized with a head injury sustained during a game in October. The school recently issued a retraction after initially announcing his passing, clarifying that Burnett is still alive and in stable condition.

The confusion arose when a family member mistakenly reported Burnett’s death on Tuesday evening. The athletic department acted upon this information and shared the news with the A&M community. However, a representative from UAB Hospital confirmed that Burnett is still receiving medical care.

Despite the initial misinformation, the school expresses relief and joy in knowing that Burnett’s condition is stable. The gofundme.com page set up for him also requests prayers for his recovery, stating that while he is facing challenges, they are holding on to faith and strength.

Originally from Lakewood, California, Burnett joined Alabama A&M as a redshirt freshman after transferring from Grambling State. He has played in seven games this season, contributing five tackles, including three against Austin Peay.
