Middleton’s Soldiers Memorial Hospital emergency department open weekdays through October

MIDDLETON, N.S. — The Soldiers Memorial Hospital emergency department in Middleton is planning on being open for more reliable hours throughout October.

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 10, the emergency department is scheduled to be open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on all weekdays leading up to Tuesday, Oct. 31.

During a public information session in Middleton on Oct. 4, Nova Scotia Health said 68 per cent of patients at the emergency department have medical issues that could be treated in a different or more appropriate health-care setting.

Residents needing non-emergency care can attend a provincial mobile primary care clinic during two visits to the hospital’s primary care clinic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8 and Oct. 22.

More mobile primary care clinic locations are available online.

Virtual urgent care service is available weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to noon by calling 1-833-413-0277.

Anyone experiencing a medical emergency can call 911, for general health advice call 811.

  • Oct. 16-20
