Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz expressed the need for “serious action” at the State Capitol following a tragic shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis.

In a recent statement, Walz emphasized the urgency to address gun violence in the wake of the devastating incident at Annunciation Catholic Church.

After the fatal shooting that claimed the lives of two young children and injured several others, including children, Walz has been considering convening a special session on gun legislation at the state capitol next month.

The shooter’s mother, Mary Grace Westman, has been uncooperative with authorities, prompting ongoing discussions between law enforcement officials and her legal representation.

Minneapolis Assistant Police Chief Christopher Gaiters disclosed that collaborative efforts with the Minnesota Department of Safety’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension have been underway to gather crucial information.

Addressing the city’s preparedness since the 2020 George Floyd riots, Mayor Jacob Frey emphasized the importance of practice and coordination in crisis situations.
