Montreal demonstrators clash with police, set off smoke bombs in destructive protest

Video of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dancing at a Taylor Swift concert amid a destructive protest in Montreal sparked outrage over the weekend. Trudeau, who represents a district in Montreal, was seen enjoying himself at the Toronto concert before Swift took the stage.

The concert took place in Toronto, which is approximately 280 miles west of Ottowa, the Canadian capital, and 330 miles west of Trudeau’s district in Montreal. Meanwhile, in Montreal, anti-NATO protesters set off smoke bombs, marched with Palestinian flags, and clashed with police. The rioters even went as far as setting cars on fire and throwing explosive devices and metal objects at officers. At one point, an effigy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was burned.

The juxtaposition of Trudeau dancing at a concert while protests raged in his hometown drew criticism online, with some comparing him to Nero, the Roman emperor infamous for fiddling while Rome burned. Member of Parliament Don Stewart, representing part of Toronto, called out Trudeau on social media for his actions, criticizing the Liberal government for allowing lawlessness to prevail.

Trudeau later denounced the protests, labeling them as “appalling” and condemning acts of antisemitism, intimidation, and violence. He stated that there must be consequences for the rioters and that they should be held accountable for their actions. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are working with local law enforcement to address the situation.

Fox News Digital reached out to Trudeau’s office for comment on the matter. The incident serves as a reminder of the need for maintaining law and order to ensure the safety of communities and uphold the values of the country.
