N.S. girl battling rare disease surprised with special salon day

Olivia Demone, an 11-year-old girl from Nova Scotia, is bravely battling a rare disease known as ataxia telangiectasia, or A-T. This genetic disease impacts Olivia’s mobility and immune system, causing her health to deteriorate as she grows older. Despite the challenges she faces, Olivia is described as a fun and cheerful girl with a contagious smile that brightens everyone’s day.

Among Olivia’s favorite things are camping, spending time with her dogs and cousin, and listening to music by her idol, Taylor Swift. In fact, Olivia’s favorite song by Taylor Swift is “Fortnight.” Recently, Olivia was treated to a special surprise by her family and a local salon in the form of a Taylor Swift-themed spa day.

The salon, Shades of Color in Bedford, N.S., transformed into a Taylor Swift wonderland to pamper Olivia and make her feel like a superstar for the day. Although Olivia couldn’t attend a Taylor Swift concert, the salon brought the concert experience to her with hair styling, nail painting, and makeup application.
