Nova Scotia RCMP Investigating Theft of Copper from Construction Site in Lower Sackville
Nova Scotia RCMP are currently investigating a case involving the theft of copper from a construction site in Lower Sackville. The incident involved thieves breaking into a fenced area of a site on First Lake Drive, climbing onto a roof, and removing copper tubing from multiple heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units.
According to RCMP Constable Mandy Edwards, the estimated cost to repair or replace the units is around $500,000. This figure accounts for the actual HVAC units themselves and whether they will need to be completely replaced or if the necessary parts are still available for repairs.
The theft is believed to have taken place sometime in the week leading up to August 20, when it was first reported. Police are urging anyone with video footage or information that could help identify the culprits to come forward.
