Egle-Kipp win 4th straight World Cup luge race

Selina Egle and Lara Kipp of Austria continued their dominance in the World Cup luge women’s doubles race, securing their fourth consecutive victory in Altenberg, Germany. The duo put on a stellar performance, posting the fastest times in both runs and easily outpacing the German sled of Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal. Meanwhile, the U.S. team of Chevonne Forgan and Sophie Kirkby added to their impressive season by clinching their fourth medal in five races.

On the men’s doubles front, Martins Bots and Roberts Plume of Latvia celebrated their second win of the season, with the German duo of Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt claiming second place and the Austrian sled of Yannick Mueller and Armin Frauscher finishing in third. Canada’s Devin Wardrope and Cole Anthony Zajanski put up a solid performance, landing in 13th place.

In the men’s singles luge event, Germany took home both the gold and silver medals, with Max Langenhan emerging victorious and Felix Loch securing second place. Italy’s Dominik Fischnaller rounded out the podium in third, while the top American finisher was Jonny Gustafson in 13th place.

Over in St. Moritz, Switzerland, the Germans showcased their prowess in the two-man bobsleigh competition, sweeping the podium with gold-gold-bronze finishes. Francesco Friedrich and Alexander Schuller tied with Johannes Lochner and Georg Fleischhauer for the top spot, while Adam Ammour and Benedikt Hertel claimed third place. The competition was fierce, with no other sled coming within a second of the winning teams’ times.

As for the Canadian teams, Pat Norton and Mike Evelyn O’Higgins led the way with a 23rd place finish, followed closely by Taylor Austin and Mark Zanette in 24th place. The U.S. duo of Frank del Duca and Carsten Vissering put up a commendable performance, landing in eighth place.
