New Glasgow man arrested, firearms seized after plow operator threatened

RCMP have charged a Pictou County man and seized multiple firearms after a snowplow operator was threatened Tuesday afternoon.
Const. Dominic Laflamme said RCMP were called to Mount William Road shortly before 3 p.m.
He said the incident that led to the alleged threat happened in New Glasgow, but the plow operator was threatened later and called from Mount William Road.
The threat wasn’t made face-to-face, Laflamme said. But the nature of it prompted RCMP and New Glasgow Regional Police to go to a home on Stellarton Road in New Glasgow.
“It was deemed serious enough to act right away, so they attended a residence and arrested one man and held the scene until they got their search warrant.”
After getting the search warrant, police went back to the house over the noon hour Wednesday and seized firearms and ammunition.
Laflamme wouldn’t give details about what led to the alleged threat.
“The plow operator was just doing his job, and somebody was not happy with him doing his job,” he said.
Some of the firearms appeared to be pellet guns, but all will be checked, Laflamme said. There were different types of ammunition seized.
Louis Carl Cameron, 66, of New Glasgow, has been charged with uttering threats and unsafe storage of a firearm. He is free on an undertaking and scheduled to appear in Pictou provincial court on April 8.
More charges are possible, Laflamme said.
