NFL Draft rumors: Titans GM says team will pick No 1 overall

The Tennessee Titans have made it clear that they will not be trading away the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. General Manager Mike Borgonzi stated that the team has come to a consensus and will be selecting at No. 1 on Thursday night.

There has been speculation that the Titans could potentially trade out of the top spot, but Borgonzi shut down those rumors by confirming that they are staying put. While other teams like the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants are fielding trade offers for their picks, the Titans are set on making their selection at No. 1.

All signs point to the Titans selecting a quarterback with their top pick. Miami’s Cam Ward has been the popular choice in mock drafts, and it would make sense given the team’s current quarterback situation. Will Levis, the team’s second-round pick in 2023, has struggled in his first two seasons, and the free agent additions of Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle are not ideal starting options.

Cam Ward had an impressive season with the Miami Hurricanes, leading the team to a 10-3 record while throwing for 39 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. Ward has exuded confidence throughout the pre-draft process, declaring himself the best quarterback in this year’s class.

Ward has even hinted at the possibility of being selected by the Titans, citing his admiration for current Tennessee players like Tony Pollard and Treylon Burks. He also praised head coach Brian Callahan, further fueling speculation that he could be the top pick for the Titans.

The Titans are looking to bounce back from a 3-14 season under Callahan’s leadership, and adding a talented quarterback like Ward could immediately elevate the team’s competitiveness in the AFC South. While Ward seems to be the frontrunner for the No. 1 pick, the final decision will be revealed when Commissioner Roger Goodell announces the selection on Thursday night.
