Atlanta Falcons legend Julio Jones made a heartfelt announcement on Friday, revealing his decision to retire from the NFL after a remarkable 13-year career. The 36-year-old wide receiver leaves behind a legacy as the Falcons’ all-time leader in receptions (848) and receiving yards (12,896), second only to Roddy White in touchdowns (60).

In a statement shared online, Jones reflected on his journey from his childhood in Foley, Alabama to the pinnacle of professional football. “I’m announcing my retirement. I started when I was 8 years old from Foley, Alabama. It was an amazing ride,” Jones expressed. He also expressed gratitude to his family for their unwavering support throughout his career.

Drafted sixth overall by the Falcons in the 2011 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama, Jones spent a decade in Atlanta where he earned seven Pro Bowl selections and five All-Pro honors.
