Nuclear powers slam Trump’s Golden Dome defense plan as dangerous and destabilizing

In a recent development, the U.S.’s chief adversaries, Russia, North Korea, and China, all nuclear-armed nations, have strongly condemned President Donald Trump’s space-based defensive plan known as the “Golden Dome.” The plan, which comes with a hefty price tag of $175 billion, aims to utilize satellites and advanced technologies to detect and intercept missile strikes from across the globe.
President Trump, who set a three-year goal for the full operation of the Golden Dome, described it as a crucial defense mechanism to protect the nation against potential threats. However, this ambitious plan has sparked outrage among the top competitors of the United States, who have labeled it as “dangerous” and a threat to global stability.
North Korea, a country with whom President Trump had an unusual relationship during his first term, denounced the Golden Dome as an “outer space nuclear war scenario” that aligns with the U.S. strategy for “uni-polar domination.” The North Korean foreign ministry criticized the plan as a display of American arrogance and high-handedness.
Similarly, Russia and China have expressed grave concerns about the implications of the Golden Dome. Russia’s foreign minister Maria Zakharova warned that the plan could undermine strategic stability by creating a global missile defense system. Meanwhile, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning raised fears of turning space into a battleground and sparking a space arms race.
The joint statement issued by Russia and China following a meeting between Presidents Putin and Xi Jinping highlighted their shared opposition to the Golden Dome. They argued that the plan could disrupt the delicate balance between strategic offensive and defensive arms and transform outer space into a zone of conflict.
Despite the backlash from its adversaries, the White House has stood firm on its defensive strategy. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth dismissed claims that the Golden Dome could be perceived as an offensive move, emphasizing that the primary goal is to safeguard the homeland.
As tensions escalate over the controversial Golden Dome plan, the international community remains on edge about the potential consequences of militarizing outer space. The world watches closely as the United States moves forward with its ambitious defense project, while its adversaries continue to voice their opposition and concerns about the implications for global security.
