Department of Homeland Security Reveals Arrests of Violent Criminals in DC

FIRST ON FOX: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently shared the arrests of five convicted, violent criminals in Washington D.C. as part of President Donald Trump’s crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital.

DHS disclosed that the arrests included illegal immigrants convicted of heinous crimes such as rape, child molestation, assault, and robbery with a deadly weapon.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, “Secretary Noem unleashed the U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) to target the worst of the worst—including gang members, murderers, pedophiles, terrorists, and rapists. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, DHS has arrested more than 359,000 illegal aliens and removed more than 332,000.”

Among the arrested individuals were David Pineda-Medrano, Junior Alexi Medina-Fuentes, Ja Mi, Jorge Andres Garcia-Celis, and Leonardo Varela-Lopez. Each had a history of violent criminal offenses.

David Pineda-Medrano, an illegal migrant from Guatemala, had prior convictions for attempted first-degree child sexual abuse, sexual abuse of a minor, and assault causing bodily injury. Junior Alexi Medina-Fuentes, from Honduras, was convicted of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in Texas. Ja Mi, from Thailand, was convicted of second-degree forcible rape in North Carolina. Jorge Andres Garcia-Celis, from Mexico, was convicted of molestation of a minor in California. Leonardo Varela-Lopez, also from Mexico, had convictions for assault and driving under the influence.

These arrests are part of ICE and DHS’s efforts to crack down on crime in Washington, D.C. as President Trump escalates his campaign against criminal activity in the city.

McLaughlin emphasized, “ICE is targeting the worst of the worst—including murderers, MS-13 gang members, pedophiles, and rapists. 70% of ICE arrests are of criminal illegal aliens with convictions or pending charges in the U.S.”

President Trump declared a crime emergency in Washington, D.C. following a series of violent incidents. He also hinted at addressing crime issues in Chicago, stating, “we’re going to make our cities very, very safe.”
