One month in the White House, President Donald Trump’s polling numbers edge down

Three new national polls released on Wednesday suggest that President Donald Trump’s approval ratings are experiencing a slight decline since assuming office one month ago. The polls conducted by Quinnipiac University, Gallup, and Reuters/Ipsos indicate a decrease in approval ratings for the president.

According to the Quinnipiac University survey, 45% of voters approve of the way Trump is handling his job as president, while 49% disapprove. This marks a slight decrease from a 46%-43% approval/disapproval rating in a previous Quinnipiac poll conducted in late January.

Similarly, the Gallup poll shows Trump with a 45% approval rating and a 51% disapproval rating, down from a 47%-48% approval/disapproval rating in the previous month. The Reuters/Ipsos poll also indicates a decline in approval ratings for the president, with 44% approving of his performance and 51% disapproving.

These polls were conducted in mid-February, with Quinnipiac surveying from Feb. 13-17, Gallup from Feb. 3-16, and Reuters/Ipsos from Feb. 13-18. Despite the slight dip in approval ratings, Trump’s numbers remain above water in other recent surveys.

Since taking office, President Trump has been active in signing executive orders and taking actions to fulfill his campaign promises. He has signed nearly 70 executive orders, showcasing a fast-paced start to his second term in office.

Trump has been vocal about his accomplishments, touting his progress on social media and in press conferences. He believes that his administration has made significant strides in just three weeks, outpacing the progress made by his predecessors.

While Trump’s approval ratings for his second term show improvement compared to his first term, they are still lower than former President Joe Biden’s initial ratings. Biden started his term with approval ratings in the low to mid-50s, which later dropped into negative territory due to various challenges faced during his presidency.

The new polls reveal a stark partisan divide in opinions about Trump’s performance. Republicans overwhelmingly support the president, while independents and Democrats show lower approval ratings. The Gallup poll also highlights a recent surge in approval ratings for Congress, reaching 29%, the highest since May 2021.

Overall, these polls suggest a mixed response to President Trump’s performance, with approval ratings experiencing a slight decline but still maintaining a level of support among Republican voters. As the administration continues to navigate various challenges and issues, it will be interesting to see how public opinion evolves in the coming months.
