OPP rescues lost pig on Highway 401 south of Ottawa
The Ontario Provincial Police gave a “piggyback ride” to a lost pig found along Highway 401 in Maitland, Ontario, south of Ottawa.
In a tweet riddled with puns, police said officers picked up the little man before an “hambulance” had to be called.
“He couldn’t say where he came from, he must have ham-nesia,” the tweet read.
A passing driver spotted the pig along the highway around 7:20 a.m. Sunday, OPP Const. Dave Holmes tells CTV News Ottawa in an email.
The person hung around while two other officers, county agents Moore and Callighen, were able to attend with a rope and leash to keep him away from the busy highway.
Holmes originally said he and his family will keep the pig for now until a permanent owner can be found, but in a social media update, police said the pig was “rescued again” by a fellow OPP officer.
