Over a dozen people rescued after wave throws boaters into Florida waters: Authorities
Florida law enforcement officials and first responders sprang into action on Saturday evening to rescue over a dozen people whose boat was damaged by a wave, as reported by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m., prompting the department’s aviation section to guide marine deputies to the scene where a boat with 13 passengers had been hit by a wave.
According to a preliminary investigation, a wave struck the boat, causing three passengers to be thrown into the water. Fortunately, a nearby good Samaritan was able to assist in pulling the individuals out of the water before deputies arrived on the scene. Some of the passengers sustained minor injuries during the ordeal.
The sheriff’s office marine section and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue collaborated to transport all the passengers from the damaged vessel to a nearby marina, where emergency medical services were on standby. Sheriff Chad Chronister commended the seamless coordination between different sections and agencies that contributed to the successful rescue operation. He expressed gratitude for the safe recovery of all individuals involved and praised the exceptional efforts of the deputies and HCFR personnel.
The rescue operation serves as a testament to the effectiveness of collaborative efforts in emergency situations. The swift response and teamwork displayed by law enforcement officials and first responders played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the individuals affected by the boat incident.
