Parents furious as blue state governor extends aid to illegals while kids struggle

Parents in Illinois are voicing their frustration over a controversial new law signed by Governor J.B. Pritzker that extends student financial aid eligibility to illegal immigrants. The move has sparked outrage among local residents, with many expressing concerns about the impact on their children’s education.

Michelle Cunney, a mother and leader of the Parents’ Rights in Education chapter in Illinois, described the new law as a “nightmare” in a recent interview with Fox News Digital. She criticized the prioritization of financial aid for illegal immigrants over American citizens, accusing Governor Pritzker of neglecting the needs of Illinois families.

Under the new law, all Illinois residents, regardless of immigration status, are now eligible for student financial aid. This includes noncitizen students who have not obtained lawful permanent residence. While the bill claims to promote equity, critics like Cunney argue that it puts American students at a disadvantage.

Cunney also raised concerns about the impact of the new law on public schools, alleging that some institutions have lowered testing standards to favor non-citizen students. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing the needs of American students and parents over political agendas.

Suzanne Gallagher, the national executive director of Parents’ Rights In Education, echoed Cunney’s sentiments, highlighting the challenges faced by parents in light of such policies. She criticized Governor Pritzker for allocating funds to support illegal immigrants’ college education while neglecting the K-12 education system.

Despite the challenges faced by Illinois families, Gallagher expressed optimism about the growing resistance to such policies and encouraged more parents to join the parents’ rights movement. She emphasized the importance of advocating for the needs of American students and holding elected officials accountable for their actions.
